Holiday Tour- 9 Days
On Day 1: Arrive in Rwanda
When you arrive in Kigali, AAB Tours
and Travel driver guide will pick
you from Kigali International Airport
to your Hotel or if you are in Uganda
you will be transferred from Kampala
to Rwanda. From Kampala you will drive
southwards to reach Rwanda. You will
drive all the way through the Ankole
area up to the terraced and cultivated
highlands of the Kigezi region, best
known as "the Switzerland of
Africa". Cross the Katuna border
post and arrive Rwanda in time for
dinner and overnight at Akagera Game
Lodge.
On Day 2: Akagera National
Park Game Drive
Take an early morning game drive in
the Akagera National Park, one of
the most interesting wildlife parks
in Africa. Akagera is famous for its
group of animals including lions,
Elephants, Topi, over 430 species
of birds including the shoebill stork
and African Jacana. In the afternoon,
drive to Kigali for dinner and overnight
at Kigali Serena Hotel/ Hotel Des
Mille Collines/ Hotel Gorillas.
On Day 3: Rwanda City Tour
(King’s Palace, Butare Museum,
Genocide Memorial)
Take breakfast and drive to Nyanza
for a visit to the Rwanda’s
King’s Palace (Mwami’s).
A local story teller is on hand to
describe for you the facts about the
pre-colonial kingdom. Drive to Butare
for an excursion of the National Museum.
Then advance to Gikongoro for a tour
of the Genocide Memorials of Murambi.
Drive to Nyungwe to have your diner
in the evening. Overnight at ORTPN
Guest House.
On Day 4: Nyungwe Forest
At the break of day, have something
to eat and head to Nyungwe forest
in a discovery for primates such as
Nyungwe colobus and other species
in the park. Have a picnic lunch and
carry on to ORTPN Guest house for
relaxation, dinner and overnight.
On Day 5: Chimp Tracking in
Nyungwe
Early in the morning go into Nyungwe
forest in search for chimpanzees and
subsequently come back to your hotel
for lunch. In the afternoon, take
a drive or a boat ride to Ginsenyi
on Lake Kivu arriving late in the
afternoon. Overnight and dinner at
Bethanie Guest House.
On Day 6: Visit Kibuye and
Gisenyi
Be present in Kibuye in the morning.
There are remarkable horrors of genocide
that were committed here in 1994;
there is a genocide memorial in the
church near St Jean. Kibuye was hardest
hit of all prefectures during the
holocaust, with about 90% of the Tutsi
population put to demise. Back to
a reborn Kibuye, other than swimming
spots around town, Kibuye Guest house
puts forward water skiing and boat
trips around the surrounding islands.
In the afternoon, drive to Gisenyi.
Overnight and dinner at Kivu Sun Hotel.
On Day 7: Beach Tour
In the morning, spend time in Gisenyi
relaxing at the beaches. Or else you
can have a boat trip to the islands
of Lake Kivu or Goma. And in the afternoon,
drive to Ruhengeri. Take an overnight
and dinner at Gorilla Nest Hotel.
On Day 8: Gorilla Tracking
Rwanda mountain gorilla tracking starts
after the briefing from the authorities
of the park. Set off for the trek
into the rain tropical forest searching
for the habituated gorilla family
unit. You keep around close to the
eye-catching primates for about an
hour watching and photographing them.
Ensure that you bring with you packed
lunch and water. Depending on the
time you will spend while trekking
you may choose to take an additional
activity. Transfer to your lodge for
dinner and overnight at the Gorilla
Nest Hotel or transfer to Uganda to
have an overnight stay in Kabale town.
On Day 9: The safari will
end with Air port transfers
Either at Kigali or Entebbe International
air port
End of the safari.
Rwanda
Birding Tour – 4 Days
Rwanda is a mesmerizing
target for bird watching. Rwanda in
its smaller size boasts of 650 bird
species out of which 44 species are
only in Rwanda. The Purple-breasted
Sunbird, the Shoe Bill, the Rwenzori
Turaco, the Rockefeller’s Sunbird,
the Red-faced Barbet, the Little Bee
Eater, Collared Apalis, and Fraser’s
Eagle Owl are among the highly sought
after birds by most tourists anyone
of the national parks of Rwanda like
Akagera National Park, Volcanoes National
Park and Nyungwe Forest National Park.
In the enormous and fine-looking Nyungwe
Forest, you will seek out for some
additional Albertine Rift endemics,
outstanding among them are the Red-collared
Babbler, Kungwe Apalis, Shelley’s
Crimson wing and Albertine Owlet.
In Akagera National Park, you look
for Shoebill and many other species
in the woodlands and the papyrus marshes.
Itinerary for Bird Watching
Safari in Rwanda
Day 1: Arrival
at Kigali International Airport
When you arrive at Kigali airport,
you will straight away start Bird
watching because Rwanda Birds are
among the welcoming biodiversity around
the place. You then retire to lodge
or hotel. You will be seeing birds
all along the way. Spend an overnight
and enjoy your dinner at Okapi Hotel.
Day 2: Move to Akagera National
Park for birding
From the hotel after a morning breakfast,
transfer to Akagera National Park.
Upon arrival, you will take on birding
in the expansive savannah where the
best panoramic views overlooking the
River Akagera strolls are known to
be. Dinner and overnight at Akagera
Game Lodge.
Day 3: Birding
Take breakfast and begin bird watching
for the complete day in the park.
Around lunch hours, you will enjoy
lunch and afterwards go back to the
lodge for a relaxation. Diverse bird
species like the headed Black Chat,
Bennett's Woodpecker, Long-toed Lapwing,
Tabora Cisticola White-winged Warbler,
Swamp Flycatcher, White-Black-collared
Barbet and Miombo Wren-warbler will
not escape your sight. Dinner and
overnight at Akagera Game Lodge.
Day 4: Take a departure flight
Go back to Kigali Airport for your
departure flight.
