Mount
Elgon Trekking Tour - 3 Days
This tourist-loved Mountain Elgon
is found in Eastern Uganda. It’s
an incredibly a striking place for
a trip, with its attractive wonderful
Sipi Falls. There is a camp built
around a croft-like house originally
built as a Governor's retreat, on
a rock face straight overlooking the
exciting Sipi Falls and the Karimajong
plains.
Mount Elgon Trekking Itinerary
DAY 1, Mabira Forest, Sipi Falls Elgon
Tour
You are picked from your hotel early
morning to head to the eastern part
of Uganda. This drive will take you
through the attractive Mabira Forest
where you will get to see different
tree species and animals. You will
go past sugar cane and tea plantations
of Mukono. On your way, you may visit
Ssezibwa Falls and later have lunch
in Jinja. In Jinja, you will visit
the source of the Nile and probably
Bujagali Falls from where you drive
straight to Mbale. From Mbale, you
will head to Sipi falls and check
in Sipi Falls Rest Camp, have something
to eat in the evening, relax at the
camp or have a leisurely walk around
up to night. Overnight at Sipi Falls
Rest Camp or Mt. Elgon National Park
Cottages.
DAY 2: Sipi Falls and Nature
Walk
In the morning after breakfast, head
for hiking to the Mount Elgon Forest
Exploration Centre for a guided walk
around this area. Then make a stroll
through the local Sabiny people's
villages and return for lunch. In
the afternoon, you will be guided
to the core of the falls at the bottom
where the water hits the rocks. Stand
static, listen and watch, you can
also take pictures. Later on, you
head up to the Caves and return to
the lodge. Spend the night at Sipi
Falls Rest Camp or Mt. Elgon National
Park Cottages.
DAY 3: Jinja Tour and return
to Kampala
Early morning, have breakfast, leave
Sipi Falls and drive to Jinja. Here
you will get to visit Bujagali Falls.
See the water rafters do their thing
and join in the fun at the source
of the river Nile. On this day, you
visit Bujagali or the Source of the
River Nile just in case you did not
check on these places on your first
day on your way to Mt. Elgon. You
can also visit the Source of the River
Nile. You will have your lunch in
Jinja before heading back for Kampala
in the evening. Retire at Hotel Africana.
